Wayne Roy Martin Jr (Buddy) Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted May. 8, 2016 at 2:00 AM Posted May. 8, 2016 at 2:00 AM » Social News 11/12/1942 - 5/2/2016 Wayne Roy Martin Jr, 73, a dear friend and brother passed away Monday, May 5, 2016 in Medford, Ore. His siblings called him Buddy. He had a life that varied from being fullback for his high school football team to lumber mill work, construction, working gold mines, a deep-sea fisherman, a gardener, a collector of treasures found in flea markets, and garage sales. Wayne built his own fishing boat from scratch to launch on the ocean for salmon fishing in Alaska and along the Oregon and California coasts for over ten years. He loved to catch the king salmon in its freshest form. He enjoyed growing vegetables and flowers, especially roses. He particularly enjoyed finding pottery in its finest forms, and the best in fishing rods and reels. Wayne was loved by his friends and family for his generous kindheartedness. He enjoyed playing golf on occasion and later on became an avid fan of tournaments on television. He loved a good cup of coffee in the morning and a chocolate donut in the afternoon. Wayne was one-of-a-kind in that he was extremely self sufficient, mechanically proficient, and relied on his own intuition. He had the morals of a saint and asked that his ashes be spread at the top of a mountain on the side where the sun comes up. Wayne resided in Medford, Ore, and is survived by his brothers: Bruce Martin of Kennewick, Wash and Michael Martin of Portland, Ore; his sister, Pamela Claflin of Kennewick, Wash; and his seven nieces and nephews. A private family service will be held.
