Police believe more victims may be out there An Eagle Point man faces multiple felony charges accusing him of sexually abusing two juveniles, but police believe he may have other victims. John Michael Carini, 53, is charged with five counts of first-degree sexual abuse and two counts of first-degree sodomy on accusations he subjected two juveniles to abuses between 2013 and 2018, according to a release issued Thursday by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and filings in Jackson County Circuit Court. At least three of the alleged sexual abuses occurred on or about Jan. 1, 2013 and involved two victims — one girl and one boy — who were each younger than 14 years old at the time, according to a Wednesday filing by the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office. The sodomy charges surround alleged oral sexual contact with the female victim that occurred at times when the victim was younger than 12 years old. Police say their investigation has determined that Carini “had access to numerous other unidentified children.” Anyone who may have information in the case is asked to contact sheriff’s Det. Lucas Tobaias at 541-774-6800 and reference case No. 22-0053. Carini was booked in the Jackson County Jail Wednesday and released from jail Thursday after posting 10% bond on $250,000 bail, court and jail records show. Carini made his initial appearance Wednesday in Jackson County Circuit Court Wednesday on the charges. At the hearing, Judge Lorenzo Mejia set bail at $250,000. As terms of his release agreement, Carini will be subject to GPS monitoring and polygraph testing, and was ordered no contact with minors or the alleged victims.
