The owners left town Thursday and returned Monday to find their home, in the 1600 block of Lenora Drive, ransacked. Gone were jewelry, four televisions, floor buffers, a welder, a plasma cutter, musical equipment, a table saw and designer clothing. Medford police believe the burglar or burglars may have made multiple trips to cart off the possessions. "That's just based on the amount of time they knew they had," Medford police Lt. Mike Budreau said of the burglars. Police said no one reported seeing a suspicious vehicle or person near the house during the homeowners' absence. An investigation shows the suspects broke in by entering the backyard and forcing entry through a back door. Budreau said the burglars likely knew of the homeowners' departure beforehand and planned their break-in accordingly. Police said the case is a good reminder to be selective about whom you tell when you're leaving town, as a good amount of burglaries they investigate are not random and have at least a loose connection between suspect and victim. "That's not uncommon to what we've seen in the past," Budreau said. "Usually people are not wandering neighborhoods just to enter a home." A detective and forensic technician spent several hours Monday going through the home collecting evidence. Police said much of the property was documented with serial numbers.
