Amy Joy Cook, 42, convicted in U.S. District Court for robbing a Medford bank in 2013, was booked in the jail at 4:32 p.m. Tuesday. A federal warrant had been issued for Cook March 16 after she failed to return to the Jackson County Transition Center following an OnTrack meeting. Cook had been transferred to the minimum-security work release detention center in February after serving a year in a Dublin, Calif., federal prison. It is not yet known what led to her capture. A call to a spokeswoman in U.S. District Court was not immediately returned Wednesday. Cook pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to the June 5, 2013, robbery of a Bank of America branch at 790 Stevens St., Medford. She fled the bank with $256 after slipping the teller a note, and spent four months as a fugitive before her capture in Arizona on vehicle theft and drug possession charges. Cook was convicted in Circuit Court of robbing the Highway 99 market in Talent in January 2010. In that case, no gun was seen, and the clerk didn't believe Cook was armed, but Cook reached into her jacket pocket to suggest she had a gun before she threatened to shoot teenagers who had gathered outside the store. She was quickly identified as a suspect in part because of her distinctive Chinese character neck tattoos.
