Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Email Story to a Friend April 21, 2006 Motorcycle crash kills man, 79 A Grants Pass man died late Wednesday after he crashed his motorcycle into a car on Rogue River Highway. The accident occurred just south of Grants Pass at about 3:37 p.m. Joe A. Mitchell, 79, crashed his 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycle into a 1969 Chevrolet Malibu as it was preparing to make a left turn into a driveway in the 3500 block of Rogue River Highway, Oregon State Police officials said in a news release. Mitchell was ejected from the motorcycle and came to rest on the far side of the driveway, officials said. He was transported by ambulance to Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass and then flown by a Life Flight airplane to Oregon Health and Science University in Portland. He died there later Wednesday evening. The Malibu’s driver was treated at Three Rivers and released. OSP troopers from the Grants Pass office are continuing an investigation. They were assisted by Oregon Department of Transportation crews and Josephine County Sheriff’s Department personnel.
