Panthers capture mat crown KLAMATH UNION -- The South Medford wrestling team advanced six competitors into the finals and four come away with wins Saturday at the Mazama Invitational. As a team, the Panthers captured the top spot with 191 points, just 5 1/2 better than second-place Modoc, Calif. Matt McCoy, 119 pounds, Donnie Jackson (125), Mike Murphy (171) and Ian Taylor (215) all pinned their opponents in the finals for South Medford. Robert Glueck (125), Kevin O'Shea (160) and Corey Sweet (140) grabbed third-place finishes for the Panthers. Phoenix finished with 157 1/2 team points while Illinois Valley picked up 140 1/2. The Pirates had five wrestlers vying for the top spot with three coming away victorious.
