Medford man pleads guilty to threatening to kill President Obama John Roos Monday Nov 7, 2016 at 3:45 PM Nov 7, 2016 at 4:59 PM Local report A Medford man faces up to 10 years in federal prison after pleading guilty Monday to threatening to kill President Obama. John Martin Roos, 62, also pleaded guilty during a hearing in U.S. District Court in Medford to threatening to shoot FBI agents and to possessing an unregistered explosive device, according to a news release from the U.S. Department of Justice. Roos has been in the Jackson County Jail without bail since April 28 on charges alleging he posted threats to the president on Twitter in mid-March under the handle @indnjohnpatriot and on Facebook. "No he is not a good peson (sic), he is a low-life muslim goat-----, who will be killed as you will be and I will kill Obamna (sic) personally," his March 16 Tweet read. Roos posted additional threats against President Obama March 19, March 25 and March 26, a court indictment stated. "Yeah this is the only way to deal with muslim animals theyall (sic) need shot in the head. I'll start by shooting Obama the traitor in the face," a March 26 Tweet read. Roos also wrote threats against FBI agents as early as Jan. 31. "FBI acts like they are something to be feared after ambushing American patriots in Oregon," a January Facebook post read. "They are pussies. We will snipe them with hunting rifles everywhere." Roos had claimed the postings were a means by which he "blows off steam" and that he would never follow through with the threats, according to court documents. Roos was arrested while parking his truck outside the Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center and Clinics in White City. Officers found a loaded semi-automatic pistol underneath the driver-side floor mat, court documents state. A search of Roos' apartment uncovered more guns and several pipe bombs. Roos' sentencing is scheduled for March 10 before District Judge Michael McShane in Medford. Roos will remain in jail, Monday's news release said. The case was investigated by the FBI, Veterans Affairs police, Oregon State Police and Medford Police Department. The prosecutor is Assistant U.S. Attorney William "Bud" Fitzgerald.
