I recall something about a public meeting on it here in March or April, but I haven't seen any subsequent report on that meeting. What gives? — Pam,  Ashland   You've got a good memory and good timing as well, Pam, because the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department will hold a public meeting — with a chance to comment — on April 22 on its proposed Cascade-Siskiyou Scenic Bikeway. The meeting for this proposed addition to the Oregon Scenic Bikeway program will run from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Ashland City Council Chambers, 1175 East Main St. The proposed 55-mile bikeway starts at Garfield Park in Ashland, then finds its way onto Highway 66 to the Green Springs Inn, then loops northward past Hyatt and Howard Prairie lakes before traveling down the Dead Indian Memorial Road back to Ashland. It uses all existing roads and already has been reviewed by the state bikeway committee. If adopted, it would be the 13th designated scenic bikeway in Oregon, according to state parks officials. At the April meeting, presentations will be made on the bikeway program and this specific route, followed by audience questions and a comment period. But you don't have to go to the meeting to make sure your two cents are heard on this proposal, Pam. You can always send an email to Alex Phillips, who runs the bikeway program, at [email protected]. Comments will be collected until the Oregon State Parks and Recreation Commission votes on the designation, and that has yet to be scheduled.
