The crash was reported at 7:44 a.m., according to Oregon Department of Transportation spokesman Gary Leaming, which occurred in the southbound lanes near milepost 28. Traffic was initially backed up to Exit 30, but both lanes have since reopened. All vehicles have been towed from the crash site to the south end of the viaduct and are off the road. ODOT officials said to still be prepared for delays, however. The cause of the crash has not been established. Emergency dispatchers received several initial reports of a disabled vehicle in the southbound slow lane minutes before the crash occurred, followed by reports of vehicles crashing in the same area. There are no immediate reports of injuries. ODOT officials are recommending commuters take alternate routes off I-5 until congestion clears if they can. Oregon State Police, ODOT, and tow officials remain on scene.
