The big movies opening this week are “Insurgent,” a PG-13 sequel to “Divergent,” starring Shailene Woodley, Ansel Elgort, Theo James and Kate Winslet; “The Gunman,” an R thriller starring Sean Penn, Idris Elba, Jasmine Trinca and Javier Bardem; and “Do You Believe?” a PG-13 Christian-themed drama starring Mira Sorvino and Sean Astin. 2. This is the first weekend of March Madness, and there will be a host of games to watch, with first- and second-round games taking place. How’s your bracket doing? Check your TV listings for game times, or go to http://www.ncaa.com/march-madness . 3. This also is the first weekend of spring. Oh, joy! Oh, blessed relief from the cold! Oh, it’s still going to be cold in many parts of the country? Well, you can create a little bit of spring inside by decorating for the season, tuning up your bikes and other such activities. Spring weather will arrive eventually, we just know it. 4. Saturday is World Poetry Day, a day designed to get people across the world interested in poetry in all its forms. According to the official website, “World Poetry Day is also meant to encourage a return to the oral tradition of poetry recitals, to promote the teaching of poetry, to restore a dialogue between poetry and the other arts such as theatre, dance, music and painting, and to support small publishers and create an attractive image of poetry in the media.” Check out http://www.un.org/en/events/poetryday/ for more information. 5. If you’re not burnt out on sports by the NCAA tournament, there are plenty of other options this weekend.
