Thursday morning classes canceled at SOU/RCC Medford campus Wednesday Sep 27, 2017 at 8:34 PM Sep 27, 2017 at 10:53 PM The Southern Oregon University and Rogue Community College Higher Education Center in downtown Medford will be closed until noon Thursday, giving police time to verify a localized bomb threat. No suspicious devices have been found during a ground sweep on the Medford campus, officials said Wednesday night. The incident was triggered after a bomb threat was found written on a campus whiteboard late Wednesday afternoon, according to a Medford police release, but the threat indicated a bomb would occur Thursday morning. The cancellation is a "precaution," according to a release issued by RCC. Several officers will remain on campus tonight and tomorrow morning to ensure everyone's safety, according to the release. The agency is asking for any tips on a possible suspect. The closure is the second threat of the calendar year, according to previous reports. The campus was evacuated June 15 upon discovery of a handwritten note in the G building mailbox that targeted "individual members of the college."
