We as representatives for the Elizabeth Baptist Church team host really enjoyed getting to know everyone involved with the Medford Mustangs. We want to thank the coaches, Nate, Kellen, Paul, Colin and general manager, Don, for their outstanding leadership and respect for all involved in the American Legion World Series. Every player showed friendship, gratitude, talent and sportsmanship, which says it all for this wonderful team that we will always remember. Meeting all the families from the Medford area who attended the World Series reiterated the players' respect and gratitude to each and every one. Council shares blame After reading the article about cost overruns on the new police station, I have the impression that the City Council is partly to blame for the situation. The budget for the project got more and more ambitious from 2012 to the present, in part even after the $32 million figure for bonds was decided upon. We should have learned a lesson of not over-extending ourselves in light of our experience with the construction of the new library. Samuel Berry Medford A bit much Regarding the article of cost overruns Sept 2: I agree with City Councilor Kevin Stine. Nine hundred thousand dollars to doll up the facade of the police parking garage is a bit much. If it would affect the safety of the population and the efficiency of the police department, I say "go for it." However, I do not believe that to be the case, and the money should be allocated more wisely. Pat Parsons Medford New puppy I just checked one more thing off my bucket list. I always wanted a Yorkie puppy. I bought one. I named her Bela (last name Lugosi). She is the cutest, adorable, 1 lb. 6 oz. furball (monster). With her sharp teeth and toenails and my aging skin, I look like I just got back from the battle of San Juan Hill, me and Teddy. Whoops, got to get to Bi-Mart before it closes, need more Band-Aids. Getting a puppy at my age: dementia? No, just nutsy kookoo. Habitat for Humanity's mission is to eliminate substandard housing by offering a 30-year, no-interest mortgage, therefore making it affordable to pay for housing.
