PREP ROUNDUP: Hawks clinch league crown, No. 1 seed By Mail Tribune staff Oct 21, 2022 11:35 PM A A 3 View all photos KLAMATH FALLS — Fifth-ranked Rogue Valley Adventist proved dominant yet again, sweeping play Friday in the Mountain Valley League championship tournament to stamp its No. 1 spot heading into the Class 1A state tournament. With standout senior Emma Bischoff leading the charge, the Red Tail Hawks were able to cruise past fourth-seeded Lost River in their first match of the day, 25-8, 25-17, 25-7. Bischoff finished with 21 kills, four blocks, six aces and six digs, while Destinee Quattrocelli doled out 17 assists to go with seven digs. Michaela Porter also added seven kills and five digs and Isabell Zamora had five kills and five digs. In the championship match, RVA (21-1) didn’t let up in sweeping past second-seeded Trinity Lutheran, 25-17, 25-22, 25-22. Bischoff once again came up bit with 18 kills, six blocks, four aces and 10 digs, with Porter posting seven kills, three aces and four digs and Quattrocelli finishing with 14 assists and eight digs. Freshman setter Naomi Jackson also had 13 assists to go with four digs. The Red Tail Hawks, who have won 14 straight, will next play host to an opponent to be determined Wednesday to open state tournament play. Boys Soccer WILLAMETTE 2, NORTH MEDFORD 0: At Eugene, North Medford saw its six-match unbeaten streak snapped in the Southwest Conference finale. The Black Tornado wrapped up regular season play 7-5-2 overall and 6-4-2 in SWC play, finishing fourth overall in the conference. Willamette (11-3) used the win to pull into a second-place tie with Grants Pass at 9-3 in league. Rogue Valley Adventist secured the Mountain Valley League title on Friday.
