Police called to a bogus report of someone pointing a shotgun from one vehicle toward another near Gold Hill attempted to stop a 1995 Lincoln Town Car at Old Stage Road and Scenic Avenue, but the driver fled, according to the Jackson County Sheriff's Department. The car sped toward Central Point and eventually ran a red light on Pine Street before the driver lost control of the vehicle and pursuing police cars pinned it against a sign, sheriff's deputies said. The driver fled on foot and eventually entered and locked a Second Avenue house, but surrendered after 25 minutes of coaxing from police, authorities said. The suspect was identified as Ty Ray Nunes, 29. He was taken into custody on charges of delivery and possession of methamphetamine, attempting to elude police on foot and in a vehicle, first-degree criminal trespass, three counts of criminal mischief, reckless driving and recklessly endangering another person. Nunes, who also had several outstanding warrants, was lodged in the Jackson County Jail without bail. A passenger in the vehicle identified as 24-year-old Brandy Rose Johnson, of Medford, was taken into custody on a charge of possession of methamphetamine and several outstanding warrants. She was lodged in jail and released. The Town Car and two police cars suffered significant damage, police said. Reach reporter Mark Freeman at 541-776-4470, or e-mail [email protected].
