The Loggers used service runs in each game and recorded 12 aces in the match to sweep visiting Chiloquin, 25-16, 25-13, 25-19. The victory advances Butte Falls (10-6, 6-4 MVL) into a play-in game Wednesday for a spot in the MVL District Tournament in Bend on Saturday. The Loggers got off slow in the first set against the Panthers and trailed 11-7 until Angel Johnson put together an eight-point serving run, with four aces, to alter the momentum "We did a good job changing the direction we were headed with the slow start and made some mental adjustments," said Butte Falls coach Skyler Harrington. In Game 2, it was Jade Stubbs and Destinee Ault doing the damage from the line. Stubbs had an eight-point service run and Ault served out the game with five consecutive points. Raleigh Weaver served seven straight, including three aces, in the final set. Weaver led the Loggers with 11 kills in the match and Katie Munsell added four kills and three aces. HOSANNA CHRISTIAN 3, PROSPECT 1 : At Prospect, Hosanna Christian finished MVL play undefeated with a 25-19, 19-25, 25-13, 25-18 victory. Prospect completed the league season at 6-4 and 13-8 overall. CORBETT TOURNAMENT : At Corbett, Cascade Christian’s Claire Hawkins had seven kills and fellow junior Karisa Waldron added four but the Challengers came up short in the championship final to top-ranked and unbeaten Creswell, 25-10, 26-24. Cascade Christian (17-2) won all six sets to go undefeated in pool play and beat Willamina, 25-17, 25-17, in the quarterfinals before topping Astoria in the semifinals, 25-19, 25-15. Freshmen Caroline McMahon and Aubrey Kievit also came up big throughout the nine-team tourney for the Challengers, whose only losses this season have come against Creswell (21-0).
