The Highway 66 crash was first reported at 2:30 p.m. Friday about 9 miles east of Ashland on Highway 66, according to Oregon Department of Transportation spokesman Gary Leaming. ODOT provided traffic control assistance. Jackson County Fire District 5 firefighter Andy Buckingham said Lockwood was ejected from her red Toyota Celica coupe. She was found lying in a field near the wreckage, and was pronounced dead at the scene. According to OSP, Lockwood was driving westbound on Highway 66 when she failed to negotiate a curve and the Toyota rolled down a steep embankment. ODOT's TripCheck.com first warned of delays on the highway because of the crash at 3:43 p.m. and cleared the advisory at 5:18 p.m. As of Friday evening, the vehicle was off the road and awaiting a tow. At about 4 p.m. Friday, officials responded to a crash on I-5 at milepost 62. They found a Chevrolet Malibu that had left the southbound part of the interstate along a curve, rolled and struck a tree. May was transported to Three Rivers Hospital in Grants Pass, where he died from his injuries. Both crashes are under investigation by Oregon State Police.
