Oregon State Police said some onlookers confronted medical personnel who were tending to the victim, and an unidentified vehicle followed and harassed the ambulance taking the victim to a hospital. The OSP said Corey Clifford Ray Steward lost control of his 1985 Nissan pickup about 10:30 p.m. The vehicle rolled four to five times before coming to rest on the south shoulder of Lower Wolf Creek Road. Steward was transported to Rogue Regional Medical Center, where he later died. Police said they consider alcohol a contributing factor. Steward's Oregon drivers license was suspended. After ambulance and fire crews arrived at the scene and began treating Steward, several people showed up and became confrontational toward the medical personnel, then left before an OSP trooper arrived, the OSP said. When the ambulance left to take Steward to the hospital, an unidentified vehicle with its headlights off began following the ambulance, tailgating it and driving recklessly near it. A second trooper was dispatched to intercept the vehicle, but it turned around and drove away before the trooper could reach it.
