October 15. 2014 5:38PM Oregon Parks & Recreation seeking state trail designations The Oregon Recreation Trails Advisory Council is inviting hikers, runners and other trail enthusiasts to nominate additions to the list of non-motorized, state-designated trails. The agency said in a news release that there are designation categories for scenic or regional trails. Scenic trails can be single routes as short as a mile, or routes that combine with other trails to give scenic access. Regional trails have to be longer than five miles and provide recreational opportunities closer to home. They link communities, schools and recreation sites. Both types must be on public land. For more information or a nomination form, visit the Oregon Recreation Trails Designation Program guidelines online at http://www.oregon.gov/orpd/Trail_Programs_Services/Pages/Trails-Designation-Programs.aspx . http://www.mailtribune.com/article/20141015/NEWS/141019757 © 2015 Copyright © 1995-2011 Crain Communications Inc.
