They are for seniors to use. — J. The Jackson County parks system doesn't offer discounted passes for senior citizens, said Jackson County Roads and Parks Director John Vial. That's because the parks system is self-sufficient instead of relying on property tax dollars, he said. "We survive on the revenue we take in," Vial said. Offering discounted passes would impact revenue and could lead to cuts in park services, he said. If you want to recreate on federal lands, you can buy a lifetime Interagency Senior Pass for $10. The pass covers entry fees and standard amenities such as parking, bathrooms, trails, visitor centers and picnic tables on U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service sites. Amenities such as campgrounds cost extra. Interagency Senior Passes are available to American citizens and permanent residents who are at least age 62. Passes can be purchased at federal agency offices. You must show a document with proof of age, such as a driver's license or birth certificate, when buying a pass, according to federal agencies. You will receive a pass to hang on your rearview mirror when visiting federal lands.
