Several people in Eugene have phoned Medford police to say they spotted Christopher Aaron Merrill riding in a vehicle with his mother and her male companion, Sgt. Tim Doney said. Police do not believe Christopher is in any physical danger, Doney said. Amy Merrill, 26, does not have custody of her son, who lives with her parents at a home in the 900 block of La Loma Drive. Christopher disappeared from the home on Sunday. Eugene police spokeswoman Kerry Delf said that while her department is aware Amy Merrill and her son were sighted there earlier this week, investigators are not actively pursuing them. Christopher and Amy Merrill are believed to be traveling with Dirk Leon Friedt, 49, in a silver 2000 Toyota Camry with Oregon Crater Lake license plate CL 71837. Advertisement If Amy Merrill is located with her son, she will face charges of custodial interference, police said. According to the boy’s grandmother, Amy Merrill is only allowed to see her son at the local office of the state’s child-welfare department. Christopher has dark blond hair, blue eyes and a fair complexion. He is 4 feet tall and weighs about 75 pounds. Amy Merrill is described as 5 feet 3 inches tall and 105 pounds, with blond hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact the Medford Police Department at 770-4783.
