Capt. Sean Schmidt said four companies and two battalion chiefs, one of them from Jackson County Fire District No. 3, were dispatched around 4:42 p.m. to a reported structure fire in the 700 block of Nita Lynne, just south of the intersection of North Ross Lane and Rossanley Drive. "Brown smoke was pouring from the roof area," he said. "The back porch was still burning." Schmidt said two more companies were dispatched and firefighters began pulling ceiling tiles in an attempt to gain access to the attic, but the home's vaulted ceiling created problems.   "We couldn't see with the thermal imaging camera where the hot spots were," he said. While firefighters began to poke holes in the roof to gain access to the fire, winds picked up and drove the flames through the house, causing extensive damage before the flames could be knocked down. Schmidt said the house is likely a total loss. "(The resident) will probably be able to recover a few of his belongings," Schmidt said.
