Mail Tribune / Roy Musitelli Dog days here a tad early Today’s high could tie a record set in 1948; Friday’s 100 degrees tied the 1937 mark for the date Record heat rolled into the Rogue Valley on Friday and is expected to stick around through the weekend. The top temperature in Medford hit 100, tying the day’s record set in 1937, said National Weather Service meteorologist Ryan Sandler. The forecast calls for a high today of 101, which would match a record set in 1948. A slight cooling trend should drop Sunday’s high to around 94, still above normal for this time of year, Sandler said. "You’ll want to stay close to the water or head for the mountains," he advised for the hot weekend. Continued cooling will push high temperatures Monday through Wednesday down into the mid-80s. The normal high for the first week of July is 87 and temperatures could top out below that early in the week, Sandler said. Advertisement The weather should warm up again by July Fourth, however.
