He's homeless, and his name is Rob. He doesn't panhandle, he doesn't use drugs, and he doesn't hassle people, yet here was a picture of a police officer patting him down, apparently as part of his training. Rob has a disability, and his sole desire is for a place to just hang out. I walk past him every day on the way to my office, and we talk about things. He's a good guy, but apparently being a good 'homeless' guy makes him a criminal. He's been told he cannot hang out in Medford, and he's been warned three times, so the next time will mean an arrest. He will be jailed and probably lose all his possessions because he has no home. We can do better than this; we are better than this. Verne Underwood Medford The real agenda Mr. Journet’s recent letter gives us a glimpse into his real agenda, when he blames "Fox executives" for not agreeing with his views regarding the debate about so called "climate change." Now, that is a real "science based" argument. For those readers that are serious about this issue, I urge you to take some time to visit Journet’s group website and the website of the GEOS Institute in Ashland. I caution that doing so takes more than a few minutes to get to the bottom of their agenda. Really dig into those websites. At the end of your effort, I challenge you to point me to any scientific data, testing, lab data, peer confirmed data or any other data in support of their agenda. What you will really find is an endless list of meetings and events where like-minded people, like Mr. Journet, meet, publish documents and so-called reports in support of their agenda. Nowhere will you find actual scientific-based studies. Rather, you will find computer models with no more validity than the person that invented the program. Self-publishing papers is not science. Self-fulfilling computer models are not science. Facts and vetted science equal the real truth. Anything else is just another agenda from the so-called progressives. Having read, "The long road to the law" via Sunday's Nov. 29 Mail Tribune, I recall back in the 1970s, while a police Explorer Scout in the Klamath Falls Police Department, seriously considering a career in law enforcement. However, this experience instantly taught me several things. Law enforcement can often be high-stress, demanding, difficult, dangerous and yes, even depressing. Meanwhile the unprecedented vicious attacks on American law enforcement today need to be honestly confronted. Fortunately, one credible institution has for many years endorsed their "Support Your Local Police" campaign. We must support our local police and keep them independent, especially from a corrupt, overreaching federal bureaucracy in Washington, D.C! Our local police and sheriff's departments are accountable to the local citizens, not government bureaucrats, corrupt politicians, globalists and socialist elitists.
