This past week, my husband received a phone call purporting to be from Alan DeBoer's headquarters (no way to tell if it was) offering to pick up our ballots. It seems to me that in the process of picking up ballots, it creates an opportunity to destroy them and possibly to alter them. — Roberta S., Medford   We at Since You Asked headquarters are particularly concerned about getting our ballots in safely to the Jackson County Elections Office. Most of the time, voters place a stamp on their ballots and mail them in. If they procrastinate, there's plenty of official drop boxes around the valley in which to deposit their ballots. We asked Jackson County Clerk Chris Walker whether it's OK to let someone else pick up ballots and deliver them to her office. "We don't recommend doing that," she said. However, there is nothing against the law about picking up someone's ballot and delivering it to the elections office on West Main Street, Walker said. Walker suggests mailing ballots in, or dropping them off at designated drop-boxes throughout the valley. The deadline to drop off the ballots is 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8.
