Reilly gets Forest Service post Deputy will be based in Medford Career Forest Service employee Tom Reilly has been named deputy forest supervisor for the Rogue River and Siskiyou national forests. Reilly is currently the district ranger at the Walla Walla Ranger District in the Umatilla National Forest. He begins his new job Nov. 7. Reilly will be based in Medford, where his duties will include serving as acting supervisor when supervisor Mike Lunn is away. He will also serve as coordinator for the task of bringing the two forest staffs together as one unit. The two forests had been operated independently of each other until earlier this year when Lunn, who previously served as the Siskiyou supervisor, was named supervisor of both forests. "I am very excited about this opportunity," Reilly said. "These are both excellent national forests with great reputations for careful and creative land stewardship and public service. "Both forests are uniquely positioned to contribute to the Forest Service natural resources agenda as we move into the new millennium," he added. Reilly had demonstrated "excellent skills in the areas of leadership and collaboration" throughout his career, Lunn said. Prior to becoming a district ranger, Reilly managed the Siskiyou's westside engineering zone in Gold Beach. He also worked for a consulting firm and for three years for the Army Corps of Engineers. He has a bachelor of science degree in geology from Portland State University and a master's degree in natural resource management from Colorado State University. He is a member of the Society of American Foresters and is a registered professional geologist. He and his wife, Peggy, have three children.
