Indigo Girls, Paula Poundstone coming to the Craterian May 30, 2018 06:00 AM A A The Craterian Theater’s 21st season, announced today, features Grammy Award-winning Rosanne Cash, power duo Indigo Girls, violinist superstar Lucia Micarelli and the Official Blues Brothers Revue, among other highlights. Pre-sales to members begin June 5, with tickets opening to the public on July 17. Audiences can pay tribute to legends Billy Joel and Elton John through Jim Witter’s It’s Still Rock And Roll To Me, swing to the music at “Jump, Jive & Wail” featuring the Jive Aces, or stomp along with the high energy pub concert Choir of Man. Touring Broadway musicals include hit show “Finding Neverland,” “The Wizard of Oz” and an all-new production of New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players’ “The Mikado,” a dreamy love story satirizing Victorian culture and set in a fictionalized 1884 Japan. For comedy lovers, the Craterian will present Paula Poundstone and improvisers The Second City: Made in America (Some Assembly Required). “Late Nite Catechism Las Vegas” features everything from magicians, to show girls, to the perils of drive-through marriage chapels. In the spectacle category, the Craterian this year will include The New Chinese Acrobats, The Flying Karamazov Brothers and Catapult. Haunted Illusions Starring David Caserta arrives just in time for Halloween. For dance aficionados, the Craterian is bringing three special performances this season: Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Eugene Ballet’s “Romeo & Juliet” and Rhythm of the Dance. Craterian Performances’ Next Stage will present one production, “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.” The popular Craterian Music Hall concert series will continue with spotlights on Mardi Gras in New Orleans and Woodstock Festival Celebration. Local free productions include Sing-Along Messiah, Stars on Stage: Celebrating State Soloists, and The Storytelling Guild’s Tears of Joy Puppet Theater. Teen Musical theater of Oregon will present “Aladdin Jr.,” “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” “Ronald Dahl’s Willy Wonka” and “Newsies.” During the holidays, both the GingerBread Jubilee and Tomaseen Foley’s “A Celtic Christmas” will return. The Craterian Theater also makes the arts center available as a rental venue for various nonprofit and commercial uses.
