The two men were reportedly arguing late Saturday night when Matthew Lee Tibbett, 35, of the 1700 block of Tanglewood Lane in Medford, obtained a baseball bat, according to Medford police. Tibbett allegedly hit the other man in the head with the bat, causing him to fall down. Tibbett then allegedly began kicking the man, police said. The alleged victim was admitted to a local hospital and was still undergoing treatment Sunday. He suffered serious injuries, police said. Second-degree assault is a Measure 11 crime in Oregon that carries a minimum sentence of five years and 10 months in prison upon conviction.
