Religion News: Netanyahu encourages Jews to immigrate to Israel Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Feb. 26, 2015 at 12:01 AM Posted Feb. 26, 2015 at 12:01 AM » Social News WEEK IN RELIGION Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said last month that his government is encouraging “mass immigration” of Jewish people to Israel, following several terror attacks targeting Jews in Europe. “Jews have been murdered again on European soil only because they were Jews,” Netanyahu said in February, speaking in Jerusalem. “Of course, Jews deserve protection in every country, but we say to Jews, to our brothers and sisters: Israel is your home,” he added. SURVEY SAYS A new Gallup poll showed that church attendance in the United States is highest in Utah, where slightly more than half of all citizens report attending church on a weekly basis. Other states with high rates of attendance include Mississippi (47 percent), Alabama (46 percent), Louisiana (46 percent) and Arkansas (45 percent.) On the other side of the spectrum, residents of Vermont were the least likely to regularly attend religious services (17 percent).
