A 23-year-old Medford man using the graffiti tag �Favor� was arrested Friday on a felony criminal mischief charge, police reported. Upon pulling into the parking lot of their North Riverside Avenue sandwich shop, the couple noticed profanities spray painted onto a concrete slab a few feet from the business’ front door. Luckily, they have a big truck. The Halls parked their Toyota Land Cruiser in front of the slab, concealing the curse words scrawled in red paint. After that, it was business as usual at R&D’s Sandwich Factory. "We drove up and went, ‘Whoa!’" Dorene Hall recalled. "The language is so distasteful. I don’t know why somebody had to write that." Advertisement Police say that "somebody" was Bobby Joe Amos, a 23-year-old Medford man who was arrested late Thursday on a charge of first-degree criminal mischief, a felony. Amos was arraigned on the charge Friday in Jackson County Circuit Court and was being held in jail on $25,000 bail. A man driving home from work called Medford police at 11:30 p.m. Thursday to report seeing a man using spray paint to deface property in the 1100 and 1200 blocks of North Riverside Avenue. Officers arrived at the scene within minutes and found Amos there with red spray paint on his fingers, said police Lt. Mike Moran. "He was caught trying to leave the scene," Moran said. Investigators later located a can of red spray paint that had been tossed onto the roof of one of the damaged businesses, Moran said. Besides the sandwich-shop graffiti, Amos also allegedly spray painted the word "Favor" on the outside wall of Rumors; on poles holding up signs for OK Market and Wolfard Equipment; on a pay phone booth at the market; and on a gray utility box. Moran said Amos faces a felony charge because he allegedly caused more than $750 damage during his "tagging" spree. Dorene Hall was pleased to hear the suspected vandal was jailed on a felony. "That’s wonderful," she said. The Halls were making plans Friday to have the offensive markings removed from their business’ parking lot. Under Medford’s municipal code, property owners have 10 days to erase graffiti. Those who defy the ordinance risk being fined. Moran said investigators are looking into other vandalism in Medford that includes the word "Favor" and could be linked to Amos.
