Humboldt blanks SOU in soccer action ASHLAND The Humboldt State womens soccer team pulled the plug on Southern Oregons recent power surge with a 5-0, non-conference victory Thursday afternoon. The NCAA Division II Lumberjacks (6-7) outshot the NAIA Raiders (4-6) by a 27-5 margin and snapped SOUs three-game winning streak in the process. Lumberjack junior midfielder Gabby Ahmadia tallied a hat trick with three goals, including the game-winner a 10-yarder off perfect passes from sophomore Jenna Hunter and freshman Meira Dinsmore in the fifth minute. Senior forward Stacie Lyans staked Humboldt State to a 2-0 halftime edge with a header into the goal in the 43rd minute, and Ahmadia put the game away early in the second stanza by converting a 2-on-1 opportunity. SOUs top scorer, senior forward Alison Richards, accounted for two of the squads five shots. The Raiders, who had outscored foes by a 16-3 margin during the win streak, next take on Seattle University at noon Saturday in Portland.
