Live music begins at 10:15 a.m., a paper airplane contest begins at 2 p.m., a Hula Hoop contest begins at 3 p.m. and contest winners will be announced at 4:15 p.m. Tickets cost $20, free for youth 18 and younger. Call 541-778-5589. Bear Creek Salmon Festival: The 10th annual festival runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at North Mountain Park, 620 N. Mountain Ave., Ashland. It features interactive exhibits, mini-workshops, outdoor activities such as fly- and spin-casting, Native American drumming, a salmon poetry slam and a salmon spiral labyrinth. Admission is free. Mountain Ave. The event will include decorating of the synagogue's sukkah in preparation for the Jewish holiday of Sukkot. Adults and children are encouraged to bring flowers, corn stalks and gourds to decorate the sukkah. ASHminster Mutt Show: Ashland Supportive Housing and Community Outreach will hold its annual ASHminster Mutt Show fundraiser from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, at Grizzly Peak Winery, 1600 E. Nevada St. Dogs of all breeds and mixes can participate in the contest with classes for size, tricks and costumes. Cost to participate in the contest is a suggested donation of $10 per dog, and $5 per person.
