A house divided will not stand, or succeed in the awesome challenge of educating our children. Michael Campbell is the voice we need on the School Board to rebuild trust with those who are in the classrooms doing the work of giving our kids a great educational experience. Let's end the divisive approach and start building a winning team. John Letz Medford Clean up syringes I am a recovering addict with a concern for children in our community. I've been clean since April 23, 2013, a little over two years. This letter is meant for the addicts' ears mainly. However this is also a notice to any and all parents whose concern is their children's safety. I live across the street from North Medford High School. I moved here in 2012 from 12th and Ivy (the supposed ghetto. However, I'm always finding syringes here. Eleven of them the first week. One was in the yard of the fire department, and then I found a pill wrapped in plastic along with a syringe cap. So to the addicts, please, please, please pick up after yourselves! If this type of life isn't one you'd wish on an enemy, then please once more pick up after yourselves. There are too many children out there who could be hurt by these things. To the concerned citizens and parents: Before letting your kids just run out and play, a quick check won't take a lot. Just a quick glance before allowing your kids to run along takes a lot less time than waiting for lab results from a blood test. Patton Lee Medford Vote Salmon, Tilley Case I am writing this letter in support of both Cathy Salmon and Cindy Tilley Case for election to the Central Point School Board. I have known Cathy for a number of years and know her to be honest and aboveboard in all her dealings. I was on the School Board with Cindy for over 12 years and there is no one more dedicated to the education and well-being of our children and our district. Both are determined to give back to the community that has done so much for them. Please vote with me for these two and deny the special interest group in Central Point a majority. June Brock Central Point Save our water I would like to suggest to all of our local restaurants that they immediately adopt a "water on request" policy. When eating out, my husband and I have noticed that the majority of local restaurants automatically bring glasses of water to the tables. We have also noticed that most of tables being cleared still have full glasses of water on them. It is not only wasting the water that no one drinks, but also the water needed to wash glasses that have not been used. I know it seems like a small thing, but added up, it could help. When we are eating out now, we have mentioned this idea to the restaurant managers. Some of them have said they are considering the idea and some have said they are going to start the policy soon. Hopefully, if we get this idea going in Jackson County it will spread statewide. Let's not wait until we are in California's situation. Bottoms up — on request!
