Three jailed in alleged toddler-snatching A woman and two men from Sacramento face misdemeanor charges for allegedly storming into a north Medford home and grabbing one of the defendant's 3-year-old daughter just three days before the woman was to get legal custody of the girl, authorities said. Kashari Atwa Murray, 22, Sherman Latrail Sells, 27, and Bjorn Reyes Tippens, 19, were each arraigned Monday afternoon in Jackson County Circuit Court on charges stemming from the 10:50 a.m. Friday incident on the 2900 block of Tahitian Avenue, authorities said. The trio allegedly kicked in the door to Murray's ex-husband's home, grabbed the 3-year-old girl and fled in a rental car. They were arrested less than an hour later at the Rogue Valley International Medford Airport as they attempted to return the rental car, Medford police Lt. Tim George said. While police questioned Murray, they found a .25-caliber handgun with obliterated serial numbers in her purse, George said. The girl was returned unhurt to her father, George said. Murray and her ex-husband shared custody of the girl, and a court order signed last April in California shows that Murray was to have custody of the girl Monday. Instead, Murray spent Monday in Judge Mark Schiveley's courtroom, where she was arraigned on charges of first-degree criminal trespass, unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm with obliterated identification marks. Sells and Tippens were each arraigned on criminal trespass charges. Schiveley set bail at $10,000 each and all three were returned to the Jackson County Jail. Police identified Sells as Murray's husband, and Tippens as a cousin. Police originally arrested the trio on felony burglary and custodial interference charges, but they were arraigned on the lesser charges Monday.
