Henley, Cottage Grove capture District 4 swim titles GRANTS PASS � Hidden Valley�s Mark Pepitone and Nate Baumgartner of Rogue River each won two individual events at the District 4 swimming championships Saturday at the Grants Pass YMCA. Henley posted the top team score with 226 points, while Phoenix was runner-up with 184. In girls, Cottage Grove captured the championship with 266� points, with Henley coming in second with 246. Pepitone, a Hidden Valley sophomore, triumphed in the 100-yard butterfly (:58.82) and the 200 freestyle (1:56.61). The Rogue River junior Baumgartner won the 50 and 100 freestyle. Other local winners were Madeline Boe of Rogue River (100 butterfly), Lynsey Foree of Hidden Valley (100 backstroke) and Justin Scott of North Valley (100 backstroke). Boe also took second in the 200 freestyle. The top Phoenix placer was Anthony Byrd, who was second in the 200 freestyle, third in the 100 butterfly and fourth in the 100 breaststroke. Steve Crocker of Rogue River finished second in the 100 breaststroke, Emily Vaughn of Rogue River placed second in the 200 individual medley and Hidden Valley�s Angela Lavenbarg was second in the 50 freestyle. Hidden Valley�s boys 400 freestyle relay (Mark Pepitone, David Ross, David Lavenbarg, Jason Murrell) and the Mustangs� girls 200 freestyle (Lynsey Foree, Sandra Lilvik, Nicole Chapman, Angela Lavenbarg) placed second as did North Valley�s boys 200 freestyle relay (Kevin McCullough, Justin Scott, Patrick Gentry, Colin Beard).
