Oregon State Police reported Tanner Allen Robert Pascoe, 14, died at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center about two hours after the 8:47 p.m. crash. The 2007 Nissan Frontier pickup truck that struck Pascoe was driven by 35-year-old Robert Penner, who was traveling north in the right lane on Highway 99, a preliminary investigation showed. The cause of the crash is not yet known. OSP Sgt. Jeff Proulx said a reconstruction of events was still active and that additional details were not available. Proulx could not say whether Pascoe was in a traffic lane, on the shoulder or attempting to cross the road when he was struck. "It's still under investigation on how it all happened," Proulx said. Police said Penner appeared to have been abiding by traffic laws and he was cooperating with investigators. "While the investigation into this crash is ongoing, troopers do not believe impairment, speed or unsafe driving were involved," a news release from OSP said. Central Point and Medford police, Medford Fire-Rescue, Mercy Flights and Oregon Department of Transportation responded to the scene. Pascoe was transported to RRMC and died at about 10:45 p.m. Penner was not injured. Reach reporter Ryan Pfeil at 541-776-4468 or [email protected] . Follow him at www.twitter.com/ryanpfeil .
