Walter (Jim) Dave Schraub Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Jan. 7, 2015 @ 2:00 am Posted Jan. 7, 2015 @ 2:00 am » Social News Walter (Jim) Dave Schraub, loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend passed away January 1, 2015. Walter was born in San Jose, Calif. June 15, 1922 to Walter and Ethel Schraub. He grew up in the Mountain View area and maintained friendships with childhood friends throughout his life. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps, became a First Lieutenant stationed on Guam during WWII. After the war he attended Stanford University, graduating with a degree in engineering. In 1947 he married Bonnie M. Hohenfeldt, beginning a wonderful partnership of 67 years that continued until his death. They had two children, Jeanne and Paul who survive. Walter worked in civil engineering for the cities of Palo Alto and Santa Ana. After retirement, he and Bonnie moved to Ashland. There he became active in the community participating in the Ashland Lions Club, ushering at the Shakespeare Festival, delivering Meals on Wheels, and other activities. Walter was an elder in the Lutheran Church. Walter and Bonnie traveled often and also spent time with their grandchildren, Lindsay and Warren Clarida and Tristan Schraub. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday January 10, 2015 at Grace Lutheran Church in Ashland.
