October 12. 2014 12:01AM Since You Asked: Medford has noisy dogs covered I read that the city of Central Point is considering some dog ordinance. Does the city of Medford have any “barking dog” ordinances? There’s a dog in our neighborhood that yips for hours at a time. — Jeremy S., Medford Jeremy, Medford doesn’t have an ordinance like the one Central Point Police Chief Kris Allison is drafting that specifically addresses nuisance dogs. But Medford’s unnecessary noise ordinance has you covered. Municipal Code 5.225 specifically mentions “barking dogs or other noisy animals which disturb the comfort and repose of any person in the vicinity.” If you feel your comfort and repose have been disturbed, call 541-770-4783 and report your neighbor’s dog. As Medford police Lt. Mike Budreau pointed out, you can call to report a barking dog anytime, day or night, because there is no time frame specified in the noisy dog subsection of the code. Police will first give your neighbor a warning, but if the barking continues, and police are called to the house again, they may issue a $150 citation.
