Snowshoeing Crater Lake when Rim Village is closed

The road to Rim Village in Crater Lake National Park has been closed frequently this winter because of heavy snow. On many days visitors can drive only as far as the Steele Visitor Center, about 3.5 miles short of Rim Village and Crater Lake.{br class="hardreturn" /} Many snowshoers and skiers don't let that stop them, however, strapping on their footwear and tromping to the rim through the snowy woods.{br class="hardreturn" /}   To check on road conditions before heading to the park, call 541-594-3100 or see the park website at http://www.nps.gov/crla/index.htm{br class="hardreturn" /}
