Avista customers can return to normal natural gas use

Southern Oregon's natural gas provider Avista Utilities has given the all-clear sign to resume normal residential and business use. In the wake of a Tuesday evening pipeline rupture in British Columbia, Canada, the Spokane-based firm asked customers to curtail use. For those who purchase natural gas from third-party suppliers, interruptible transportation service curtailment is lifted immediately as well. Avista said customers residing between Ashland and Roseburg were primarily affected by the disruption. The restoration of normal flow alleviated a "critical linen shortage" at Asante hospitals in Jackson and Josephine counties. Southern Oregon Linen Service, Asante's supplier, was forced to ration its deliveries because it couldn't operate its gas-fueled equipment.
