He was 57. He served on Medford’s school board from 1986 to 2000, when he resigned because of poor health. He also volunteered on various city committees and was active in service clubs. Lindbloom was elected to a district in a tough financial situation that had struggled through contentious labor negotiations and was looking for new leaders. "He was elected in a time of change and he brought a new perspective that he maintained the whole time he served," said board member Joe Frodsham, who served alongside Lindbloom. Advertisement Frodsham praised Lindbloom’s ability to analyze situations, ask the right questions and find new solutions. "His contributions were important because they were so well thought through," Frodsham said. While on the board, he presented diplomas to all eight of his children. Board Chairman Mike Moran, who was appointed to complete Lindbloom’s term, said he got a call earlier this month from Lindbloom’s hospital room. "Even from there, he called to talk about school board issues," Moran said. Moran, also a lieutenant with the Medford Police Department, said Lindbloom served on the department’s communications advisory committee from 1997 to 2004. The group hears citizen complaints about officers. "He helped everybody see all perspectives and not get caught up in assigning blame," Moran said. Lindbloom worked in law enforcement in Utah, Colorado and Wyoming and was a reserve officer in Phoenix after the family moved to the Rogue Valley in 1978, said his daughter, Sara Johnson. He worked as a stock broker and in 1982 started a radio show on investment advice. He continued to work in radio, doing quiz and talk shows until 1999, Johnson said. She said her dad loved current events and discussing them with people. He was a loyal Republican who had attended the party’s national convention. His father was an Air Force major and Lindbloom organized an air show in Medford for several years. He was a Mensa member, active in Rotary, served on the Winema Girl Scout Council, volunteered on the city’s budget committee and hospital facilities board, as well as a state health care board. He is survived by his wife, Sherry; their eight children; and 16 grandchildren.
