According to an OSP news release, Richard A. Nuckols was arrested Tuesday on two counts of third-degree assault, four counts of unlawful use of a vehicle as a weapon, four counts of recklessly endangering another person and four counts of reckless driving. The investigation leading to Nuckols' arrest stemmed from a May 11 incident in which he allegedly ran a vehicle off the road on Interstate 5 in south Medford. The release said Nuckols was allegedly driving at excessive speeds around 12:38 p.m. near milepost 27 before he swerved toward the victims' vehicle, forcing them off the road. The driver and passenger sustained head and neck injuries from avoiding the collision, the release said. The driver was able to identify Nuckols car as a bright blue 2013 Dodge Dart with tinted windows and aftermarket wheels. While troopers were investigating the May 11 incident, the release said, Nuckols allegedly ran more vehicles off the road on May 18 and May 21. The release said troopers also identified a March 11 incident in which Nuckols was allegedly driving at excessive speeds on I-5 near exit 27, forcing cars to swerve out of the way. Nuckols was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on $90,000 bail but has since been released, jail records show.
