Mustangs keep on rolling REDMOND - Tony Conklin fired a no-hitter as the red-hot Medford Mustangs won their 12th straight game Friday with a 12-0 victory over the Redmond Flame. Conklin struck out six, walked none and faced only one batter over the minimum in the non-league game that was shortened to five innings by virtue of the 10-run mercy rule. Conklin retired 12 straight batters during one stretch before hitting John Ketchum with one out in the fifth. Conklin then struck out the next two batters to end the game. The Mustangs led just 3-0 heading into the fifth inning when they took advantage of five hits, three walks and two Redmond errors. Evan McArthur, Matt Skundrick and Dave Henneman all had doubles in the inning, while Rob Folsom and Conklin added RBI singles. McArthur led Medford at the plate with a 2-for-4 performance that included two runs and two RBIs. Folsom also had a pair of hits. The Mustangs, now 25-13, return to Area 4 play on Monday night at Miles Field when they meet Central Point for a 6 p.m. doubleheader. Ashley Dineo went 3-for-4 for Beaverton, while Blair Veloni chipped in with two hits. Krystal Young led the Black Tornado with two hits including a double.
