Cavaliers rally past SOU women in OT for conference win Raider roundup PORTLAND -- The Southern Oregon University women's basketball team shot just 30 percent from the field, turned the ball over 26 times and got outrebounded 56-40, but the Raiders nearly overcame those shortcomings in a Cascade Conference game against Concordia on Friday night. Concordia needed a 3-point basket by Sarah Sowers with three seconds left in regulation play to tie the game and then the Cavaliers defeated the Raiders 61-55 in overtime. Lauren Mohan led SOU with 14 points. "We pretty much led the whole second half until the last four minutes," SOU coach Shirley Huyett said. "And then we got the lead back in the final minute (of regulation,) but we just couldn't get it done." Sowers led the Cavaliers with 18 points and Rachel Hudson had 10. Sowers' 3-point basket in the final seconds of regulation play came after the Cavaliers had missed a shot. But they got the rebound and kicked it out to Sowers, who connected for the big trey that tied the game. "We forced them to take a contested shot but then we failed to get the rebound," Huyett said. "It was the story of the night for us."
