Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Email Story to a Friend May 21, 2005 Police nab armed-robbery suspects Three teens were arrested Friday on suspicion of working together last month to commit an armed robbery at a White City gas station. Dylan Branting Ashmun and Akoni Kanoa Omega, both 19, and Kenneth Ray Heinze, 18, were lodged late Friday in the Jackson County Jail on felony charges relating to the April 18 robbery of the Shell Gas Station at 7600 Highway 62, police said. The gas station’s manager told sheriff’s deputies that two men wearing stocking caps and bandannas over their faces approached him as he was opening the station at about 5:40 a.m., police said. One of the men displayed a handgun and ordered the manager to open the door to the business and then the station’s safe, police said. After taking an undisclosed amount of money, the robbers fled the scene. Ashman, of Talent, and Akoni and Heinz, neither of whom have known addresses, face felony charges of second-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit second-degree robbery and first-degree theft. They were all being held in jail on more than $1 million bail. Sheriff’s detectives were able to make the arrests after corroborating information gathered during the past week from police in Central Point and Phoenix, said Detective Dan Hobbs. A fourth suspect allegedly involved in the robbery was being sought late Friday, Hobbs said.
