Eva "Rebecca" Barker Malmgren Wednesday Jan 4, 2017 at 2:00 AM June 21, 1947 - December 31, 2016 Rebecca Malmgren, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister returned peacefully to her Father in Heaven, Saturday, December 31, 2016. At the time of her death Rebecca was in the arms of her sweetheart and surrounded by her loved ones. Rebecca was born on the June 21, 1947 to William Franklin Barker and Lula Marie Giles in Salt Lake City, Utah. In 1968 she married the love of her life, Clark Malmgren. They made many fond memories together and tried to live every day to its fullest. Rebecca loved picnics, sunsets, and travel. She and Clark were fortunate enough to visit many wonderful places including Sweden, Italy, Estonia, Greece, Belgium, Hawaii, Spain, and went on three cruises. Rebecca also enjoyed spending time at the gym, doing water aerobics, as well as reading and knitting. Rebecca shared her love of life and spread happiness everywhere she went. She received a bachelor degree in elementary education from Southern Oregon University and went on to teach fourth grade at Wilson Elementary in the Medford School District. Rebecca loved every child she taught and looked forward to work every day. Rebecca spent many years faithfully serving in the LDS church. She served as a Relief Society President and Young Women's President. She also extended her love of teaching children by spending several years serving in the primary. Rebecca accomplished many things in her life but said that her greatest achievement was raising two wonderful, intelligent, warm, fun, exceptional children. Rebecca loved her children and grand-children very much. She is survived by her husband, Clark Malmgren; her children, Michael Malmgren (Elisabeth) and Jeri Hazelton (Tom); her brother, Paul Barker (Lydia); her Malmgren grandchildren, Madison (16), Brigham (14), Chase (11), and Davis (9), and her Hazelton grandchildren, Emily (20), Amber (18), Adam (16), Jenna (9), TJ (8), and Bailey (2). She was preceded in death by her brother, William Barker (Joleen) and her sister, Carol Barker. Rebecca had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and is joyfully reunited with her eternal family. As per her wishes there will be no funeral. In lieu of flowers Rebecca would like memorial contributions sent to Wilson Elementary to be used for the Wilson High School Scholarship Fund.
