Julian wins Fourth of July race ASHLAND - Peter Julian of Boulder, Colo., posted a time of 30:08.5 to win the 25th annual Fourth of July Run. The Fourth of July Run was the first race in eight weeks for Julian due to a battle with cancer. Pear Blossom winner Ian Solof from Portland came in second in the six-mile event with a time of 30:28. Trevor Coolidge, a 2001 St. Mary's graduate, took seventh with a time of 33:09. Last year's winner Tim Julian from Bend came in third with a 31:20. With temperatures chasing 100 degrees, race conditions were not conducive with any runner's attempt to break the course record. Ric Sayer's 1988 mark of 29:22 survived one more year. On the women's side, Rosa Gutierrez from Glendale captured first after posting a low of 36:25. Colleen Julian, Peter's wife, took second with a time of 38:27. Bonnie Havens from Medford grabbed fourth place with a mark of 40:39. Rebekah Julian, last year's women's winner, came in 10th with a time of 43:49.
