Pool play begins on Dec. 2 at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa. The top two teams from each pool advance to single-elimination bracket play on Dec. 5 and 6. The 17th-ranked Raiders (23-5) — who moved on Saturday with a sweep of College of the Ozarks in the opening round — will play eighth-ranked Columbia (Mo.) (23-5) at 1:15 p.m. Pacific on Dec. 2, fourth-ranked Texas Brownsville (29-4) at 11 a.m. on Dec. 3 and 21st-ranked Vanguard (Calif.) (23-11) at 1 p.m. on Dec. 4. Texas Brownsville won the 2013 title and got an automatic berth by winning the Red River Athletic Conference tournament championship. SOU’s other opponents received at-large bids — Vanguard after taking third in the Golden State Athletic Conference, and Columbia after taking third in the American Midwest Conference. Columbia defeated SOU in pool play in 2002 and 2003 and had to win a pool play tiebreaker against the Raiders the first year. The Raiders were also in the same pool as Vanguard in 2011 and won the matchup in four sets.
