Ashland Food Co-op turns 50 Friday By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Jun 01, 2022 12:52 PM A A The Ashland Food Co-op, 237 N. First St., will throw a 50th birthday party for itself from 5 to 8 p.m. June 3, at the Co-op’s employee parking lot. Dancing, food and face painting are on the agenda, along with music by Eight Dollar Mountain and Wild and Blue, according to the Co-op website. Siano's Karibbean Cookhouse, Walkabout Brewing Co. and Rogue Kombucha will sell food and beverages, and other companies will be represented as well, including Rising Sun Farms, Organically Grown Co., Parma and True South Solar. The Co-op began in 1971 as a food-buying club before morphing into a co-op in 1972, according to the Co-op website. The Co-op now boasts more than 10,000 members.
