Ewing started third but quickly took the lead by making first-lap passes on Angel Figueroa and Dean Riggs. Figueroa gave chase until late in the race when his steering gave out with only five laps remaining. Ewing was able to cruise to the win despite a last ditch effort by second-place finisher Howie Ross. In the Pro Stocks, points leader Frank Word III won his sixth main event of the season. Word was in fifth by the time Chris Charlton got bumped into a 360 degree spin down the front straight on lap 6 causing a yellow flag. Word passed Dave Everson for the lead on lap 8 and motored away for the win.
