According to information released by Ashland police, the department responded to a report around 10:15 p.m. that a resident of an apartment in the 700 block of Park Street arrived home to Malone, who he knew, collecting items to steal. After a confrontation, Malone fled the scene in a white van. Ashland police received complaints of a white van traveling at high speeds down Siskiyou Boulevard shortly thereafter. The van crashed into a sign at the intersection of Siskiyou Boulevard and East Main Street, and the driver Malone, was identified as the burglary suspect. No one was struck at the scene of the crash. Malone was arrested at approximately 10:45 p.m. A probable cause affadavit by Ashland police says Malone admitted to drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana. Malone is charged with first-degree burglary, driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving and disorderly conduct, according to a Jackson County Circuit Court document. The case was referred to the Jackson County District Attorney's Office for review and possible additional charges.
